In Novembre 21, I will start a new job in the Centro Tecnológico de Automoción de Galicia (CTAG). My tasks will be related to R&D projects in computer vision, artificial intelligence and software development.
So I finish a almost-2-year stage in the Laboratorio de Informática Aplicada (LIA) from the Universidade de Vigo. It is a good moment to say thank you to Dr. Arno Formella, Dr. Francisco Javier Rodríguez Martínez, Dr. Pilar Carrión, and Encarnación González, for believing in me. Thanks also to my laboratory mates this time: Kote, Álex, Federico, Víctor, Mathías, Leo, Adrián, Breogán, Mac, Mario, Juan, Lorena, Cástor y Loxo, and the rest of researchers from the ESEI, que no nombro para no dejar a ninguno en el camino. It has been a honour to work with you.
See you at CTAG ;)
Last conference this year. This time I've attended the 16th International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing (ICIAP 2011), held in Ravenna (Italy), from 14 to 16 September 2011. It was a poster participation again, summarizing the article "Common scab detection on potatoes using an infrared hyperspectral imaging system".
After a fast visit to Bologna, I've spent some days in Ravenna, in my third stay in Italy. I've also spent some time with Brais Cancela, from Varpa group of the Universidade da Coruña, that helped to make everything more fun.
In August I've attended the 14th International Conference on Computer Analysis of Images and Patterns (CAIP 2011), held in Sevilla (Spain), from 29 to 31 August 2011, to present the poster related to the article "Non-destructive detection of hollow heart in potatoes using hyperspectral imaging". Non only the poster was presented, but also a 1 minute highlight presentation (picture).
It was a conference with a lot of Spanish people, held in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Informática of the Universidad de Sevilla. I discussed with the assistants about my research, and I have the luck of having a long talk with Dr. Pedro Real, chair of the conference, and Aura Hernàndez, from CVC. Thanks also to the organization committee for their attention.
After presenting my PhD dissertation, I've attended the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME 2011), that has been celebrated at Universitat Ramon Llull - La Salle in Barcelona from 11 to 15 July 2011. I've presented a poster that summarizes the publication "Rapid Multi-Spectral Systems Design using a Hyperspectral Benchmarking Framework".
In this conference I've spent some time with my colleague Esteban Vázquez and Hugo García-Pardo, from Gradiant, as well as with Gabriel Domínguez, from the Tecnologías de la Señal group from Universidade de Vigo. The conference has been a good chance to interchange ideas with other researchers, and attend very interesting panels and tutorials, like the one presented by Dr. Bernd Girod about computer vision and augmented reality in mobile phones (in the left picture).
